Facing cancer can be challenging for you and your loved ones.  Robert Boissoneault Oncology provides a support person to help you and your family navigate through these unfamiliar times.  Clinical Social Workers provide one on one support and counseling services to you and your family members.  Social work can help you deal with the physical, emotional and practical demands that you and your family may experience.  Oncology social workers have specialized knowledge of the impact of cancer on individuals and family as well as resources and programs specific to your needs.  Our social worker will meet with each patient to help connect them to appropriate resources, support and services.  Below are just some of the programs and services provided by Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute.

Our social work team serves as navigators to the community helping to connect you to relevant programs, resources, financial assistance, support groups, transportation resources, etc…

 

Support Programs and Services We Provide:  

Prostate Cancer Support Group & Educational Forum

 

This is a physician led monthly meeting.  The meeting is open to people facing prostate cancer and their loved ones.  Educational topics are presented with opportunity for individuals to ask pressing questions to medical professionals.  Through this group one can learn about prostate cancer, potential treatments and side effects.   Meetings are provided monthly at the various offices of Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute from 11:45 – 12:45.  Please call for additional information. Women’s Breast Cancer Support Group

 

Group is led by our Clinical Social Workers.  Locations and times vary depending on your area.  Please call to find out more information.

 

 Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

 

This group, co sponsored by Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute and Support for Person’s with Oral Head and Neck Cancers (SPOHNC.org) is facilitated by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  The sessions provide general education and support.  The meetings are open to cancer survivors, people in active treatment and loved ones.  The group is held the first Monday of each month from 11:00-12:00 at Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute, 2020 SE 17th Street, Ocala, FL 34471.  For information call Amy Roberts, LCSW.  Phone: 352-732-0277

  

Look Good…Feel Better

 

This program which is sponsored by the American Cancer Society is led by a Licensed Cosmetologist who is a trained ACS volunteer.  The program is designed to help women with appearance related side effects of cancer treatment; learning makeup tips and other resources including wigs and wraps.  The meeting is held the first Monday of each month from 2-4 at Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute, 2020 SE 17th St, Ocala, FL 34471 Other sessions are available in each treatment area.  Call 1-800-395-5665 to register or visits the ACS website at www.cancer.org. 

  

We CAN Weekend

 

This event sponsored by the Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute in collaboration with our community sponsors.  It is designed to celebrate cancer survivors and their families.  Multiple workshops will be given throughout the day on a variety of topics.  Participants are given an opportunity to share experiences and access community resources.  This program is an opportunity for families to come together and learn how to live their lives fully, following the impact of cancer.  The program is generally held on a Saturday from 8am to 2pm.
